Cascadia Healthcare Prototype

GM+A worked with Cascadia Healthcare and Stack Construction as a prototype for two locations in Boise & Nampa, Idaho. The contemporary, 100 bed Skilled Nursing Facility exemplifies our signature design as it incorporates all of our principles. This includes the use of natural light, the implementation of continuous circulation paths, and the strategic efficiency during construction processes to produce financial and operational success for our clients.

The contemporary exterior and the extending cantilevered porte-cochère distinguish the Cascadia Healthcare Prototype from typical 1960's convalescent homes. The floor-to-ceiling storefront highlights the therapy and rehabilitation gym, making it visible as one walks towards the patient wings. Nevertheless, before entering the resident wings, the circulation path naturally directs users towards the nurse stations, which also maintain direct visual and physical contact with dining and activity areas on either side. Atrium and courtyard placement was also thoroughly considered to provide maximum natural light exposure from the building core.
