Function is at the heart of everything. Every organism, small or large, has a function. It is what drives the organism and is the definition of its existence. A building can have many functions, but each element has its own relevance and value.
Often, function and beauty are thrown against each other and forced to become opponents. Many buildings are functional, but extremely unpleasant. Many buildings are beautiful, but lack the underlying functional foundation that is the building’s reason for being. Our philosophy is to merge function and beauty together without mimicry, to design a building that simply “works”. We design with the understanding that after all the initial accolades bestowed upon us for a beautifully completed project have faded, our true measure of excellence and satisfaction comes when our designs stand the test of time.
“Form and function are a unity, two sides of one coin. In order to enhance function, appropriate form must exist or be created.”
– Ida P. Rolf
“However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.”
– Winston Churchill
